Hangzhou, China, April 11, 2022: The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee held a test event for karate over the weekend in the buildup to the 19th Asiad this September.
From April 8, the Asian Games test event “Exciting Hangzhou – First Stop of 2022 National Karate Tournament Series” was staged in the Linping Sports Centre Gymnasium.
A total of 246 karate athletes from all over the country competed for 12 gold medals in a dress rehearsal for the Asian Games.
The competition venue was arranged according to the standard for international events. The venue is rectangular with two arenas for karate at the centre. Arena A is for finals and Arena B is for preliminaries. The two arenas can both be viewed by the spectators.
After reconstruction, the gymnasium covers a land area of 8,383 m2, with a construction area of 16,885 m2. There is a playing area of 46 x 28.5m and 4,200 seats, of which 900 are movable pull-out seats.
