Colombo, Sri Lanka, December 8, 2021: The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, with the collaboration of the Olympic Council of Asia and Olympic Solidarity, is running a three-day virtual session for youth representatives from the South Asian region.

The Sri Lanka NOC is conducting its 17th edition of the National Olympic Academy sessions from December 6-9 virtually with 37 youth representatives from Sri Lanka universities and their counterparts from Nepal, India, Pakistan and the Maldives participating.

Sri Lanka NOC Secretary General Maxwell de Silva addressed all participants on the opening day. The keynote address was made by Assistant Professor, University of Tsukuba, Japan, Taro Obayashi, who spoke on "The New Normal Era for the Olympic Movement with the experience of Tokyo 2020".

Professor Obayashi pointed out that even though Tokyo 2020 was a “no spectator Games” it created and showed new ideas to realise Olympic values in the new normal era beyond COVID-19.

He also told the youth representatives at the seminar that Japanese initiatives made it possible for online international cultural exchanges between students from different countries.
