Colombo, Sri Lanka, February 21, 2021: The Women’s Committee of the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee will conduct a virtual speech competition to mark Women’s Day which falls on March 8.

The theme of the competition is "Make Sports a Safe Zone". The competition is open to all – school children, athletes, officials and the public – with participants being asked to submit a two-minute video presentation in English.

Judging criteria will be 50 per cent marks going to the content of the submission, 30 per cent on delivery and 20 per cent on grammar, correct pronunciation and choice of words.

Toastmaster International members will help in the judging process carried out by the NOC’s Women’s Committee.

Due to the pandemic, the competition will be virtual with participants having to record their speech as a video using a high-resolution mobile phone or camera. Entries will need to be sent to sigoolympic.lk@gmail.com via wetransfer. Deadline for entries will be March 8.

The winner and runner-up will be announced on March 15 and each of them will receive an upmarket mobile phone, with their submissions being published in article form on the Sri Lanka NOC bulletin GoodSport.
