Lahore, Pakistan, January 11, 2021: A meeting on the hosting of the 34th National Games in Quetta was held between the Pakistan Olympic Association and senior officials of the Government of Balochistan on Tuesday, January 5.
Imran Gichki, Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Balochistan, visited the headquarters of the POA in Lahore to discuss the holding of the National Games in Quetta on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Balochistan, HE Jam Mir Kamal Khan Alyani.
The meeting was chaired by Shaukat Javed, POA Vice President. In attendance also were POA Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, POA Treasurer Muhammad Shaiq and POA Assistant Secretary General Ahmer Mallick.
After a video presentation to show the history of the National Games, Imran Gichki was given assurances that the POA would provide every kind of support in organising the National Games in Quetta.
The dates for the showpiece are still to be decided and to be given by the Balochistan Olympic Association in coordination with the Government of Balochistan.
A POA committee will visit Quetta shortly to oversee the preparation plans and look into the availability of infrastructure and competition equipment.
On behalf of Lt Gen (retd.) Syed Arif Hasan, President of Pakistan Olympic Association, the chair expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for his vision and efforts for the development and promotion of sports in the province and ensured to work together to further the cause.
