Hangzhou 2022 opens Asian Games Sports Entry process for NOCs

Hangzhou, China, December 29, 2020: The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) officially launched the Sports Entry process on Monday, December 28, 2020.

An official letter explaining the entry process, together with the entry form, was sent out to all participating National Olympic Committees.

Sports Entry, a major step in Games preparations that connects athletes to the Games through their registration and intention to participate, is a must for all NOCs that intend to take part in Hangzhou 2022.

As per the OCA Constitution and Rules and standard practice at previous Games, the Sports Entry process for Hangzhou 2022 will be carried out in three phases: Entry by Sport, Entry by Number and Entry by Name.

The first phase, Entry by Sport, started in December 2020 and runs for two months. It will see NOCs submitting entries nominating the sports/disciplines in which they intend to participate, via e-mail to HAGOC.

This will allow HAGOC to confirm the number of NOCs participating in each sport/discipline, which is the core data used in developing the competition schedule and organising catering, accommodation and transport services.

The second phase, Entry by Number, will start in September 2021 and run for four months. This is when NOCs submit the number of their male and female athletes, and the total number of athletes, that will be taking part in each event across all sports and disciplines. This phase will allow HAGOC to estimate the total number of athletes taking part and the overall scale of the Games.

The third and final phase, Entry by Name, will start in March 2022 and last for three months. In this phase, NOCs must submit the names of all eligible, participating athletes. The Organising Committee and the International Federations/Asian Federations will review the entry information of each NOC and finalise the list of participating athletes after the Pre-DRMs and DRMs (Delegation Registration Meetings).

The deadline for the phase one Entry by Sport is 00:00(midnight), February 20, 2021 (UTC+8:00).

The OCA's 19th Asian Games will run from September 10-25, 2022 and feature 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 482 events.
