Asia is shaping the future of Ju-Jitsu
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, May 3, 2016: The second General Assembly and Electoral Congress of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) was held at the Hilton Hotel Abu Dhabi on April 25 and conducted in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation [JJIF]. The General Assembly was attended by 33 National Federations and chaired by the JJAU Secretary General, Mr Fahad Ali Al Shamsi.
The JJIF President, Mr Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, was the Chief Guest, and the meeting was graced by the presence of Korean IOC member Moon Dae Sung, taekwondo gold medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
It was announced that, under the leadership of HE Abdulmunem Alsayed M Al Hashmi, Chairman of the JJAU and JJIF Senior Vice President, Ju-Jitsu has, in the past two years, grown rapidly across Asia and secured its place in three of the OCA’s five multi-sport games: Asian Games, Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and Asian Beach Games. The GA voted to grant JJAU membership to seven more National Federations.
The elections for President and EB members are for the term 2016-2024: President/Chairman, HE Abdulmunem Alsayed M Al Hashmi (UAE); First Vice President, HE Sheikh Fahad Talal Al Fahad Al Sabah (Kuwait); Vice President (East Asia President), Mr Lee Yeoung Soo (Korea); Vice President (South East Asia President), Mr Hung Nguyen Manh (Viet Nam); Vice President (South Asia President), Mr Suresh Gopi (India); Vice President (West Asia President), Dr Mokhles Albu-Mohammed (Iraq); Vice President (Central Asia President), Mr Adayev Ata (Turkmenistan).
Executive Members: Dr Henry Kothagoda (Singapore), Mr Francois Saade (Lebanon), Mr Seyed Amir Khoshbin (Iran), Mr Kithsiri De Zoysa (Sri Lanka), Mr Bold- Erdene Odsuren (Mongolia), Mr Ahmed A Aziz Al Khayat (Bahrain), Mr Takamasa Watanabe (Japan), Ms Ratnadiptee Shimpi (India). Additional Board members were also unanimously voted into office: Secretary General, Mr Fahad Ali Al Shamsi; Deputy Secretary General, Dr Jaffer Al Muthafer; Finance Director, Mr Tareq Al Bahri; Sports Director, Mr Joachim Thumfart.
