Bahrain NOC celebrates 15-medal haul

Manama, Bahrain, February 28, 2017: Bahrain won 15 medals at the first West Asian Paralympic Games in the UAE comprised of five gold, three silver and seven bronze. The team was given a special welcome on their return by high-ranking sports officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.

Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Bahrain Olympic Committee Board member and Chair of the Women’s Sport Committee, along with Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities President Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa and other senior sports officials congratulated the team.

Shaikha Hayat said the team had brought great pride to all Bahrainis, and commended the outstanding performance of the Bahraini athletes. Shaikh Mohammed expressed pride for this first-of-its-kind achievement with 15 medals won in different competitions, which reflects the development of Bahrain sports for disabilities.
