Taipei, September 5, 2017: As the Taipei 2017 29th Summer Universiade drew to a close, the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) inaugurated the 40th Session of the Olympic Academy from September 1-3 at Chientan Youth Activity Center. The main topic of the session, “Governance in Sport and the Olympic Movement”, explored cooperation models and relations between National Olympic Committees and Government.

With an aim to promote the values of Olympism, the Chinese Taipei Olympic Academy Session has been conducted annually for 40 years. More than 80 participants, including 20 veterans who served as group coordinators, gathered at this year’s session. They shared and exchanged opinions on various topics during group discussions, including the ancient and modern Olympics, Olympic values, sports education and good governance in sport.

As part of the session, Chinese Taipei athlete Hsing-Chun Kuo, 2017 Universiade gold medalist in women’s weightlifting, enlightened young participants by sharing her own experience and expertise and demonstrated the positive impact sport can have on a person’s life.

Apart from the academic lectures, the event also offered a diversity of fun outdoor sports activities. At the end of the session, the participants were full of knowledge on Olympism and passion for sports kindled by this three-day event.
