Fun Run marks beginning of Incheon Asian Games

12 Apr 2011
Incheon, Korea: The Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee has successfully organised the first official Fun Run of the 17th Incheon Asian Games 2014 today in Incheon Sunrise Park.

More than 380 boys and girls from Incheon Haesong high school completed the 2km race. Incheon city mayor Song Young Gil, IAGOC President Lee Yun Taek together with OCA delegations led by Director General and Technical Director Husain Al-Musallam attended today's fun run event, and presented commemorative medals and certificates to participants.

The success of the first fun run has transferred Asia from the remarkable 16th Guangzhou Asian Games into the 17th Incheon Asian Games to be held in 2014.

The 2014 Incheon Asian Games, officially known as the XVII Asiad, is the largest sporting event in Asia governed by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

The games have been scheduled to take place in Incheon, Korea, from September 19 to October 4, with 36 sports in 36 venues.

Incheon is the third city in Korea after Seoul (1986) and Busan (2002) to host the Asian Games.
