Mongolia NOC selects 48 athletes for Sapporo 2017

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, February 15, 2017: Mongolia NOC organised a farewell ceremony for the Sapporo 2017 Asian Winter Games-bound team at Olympic House in Ulaanbaatar. NOC President Dr D Zagdsuren, Mrs  B Bayarsaikhan, State Secretary for Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports , Chef de Mission Mr Ch Nasantogtokh, Presidents of  Winter Sports Federations, veteran athletes and Mongolia team members attended the ceremony.

Mr Erdenechimeg Barkhuu will be the first biathlon athlete to  carry the national  flag  at the opening ceremony. Mongolia NOC has sent a team to all eight editions of the Asian Winter Games since 1986 and captured one silver in bandy (Astana 2011) and six bronze medals in cross country ski relay  (Sapporo 1990), free-style (Changchun 2007) and ski orienteering  (Astana 2011).

This time, 48 athletes in cross country skiing, speed skating, alpine skiing, short track, biathlon and ice hockey will compete at Sapporo.
