16 Mar 2017
Male, Maldives, March 16, 2017: Maldives Olympic Committee hosted the first phase of the Athletes Mentoring Programme on March 11. The aim of the programme is to assist athletes to develop the required talent, dedication and desire to constantly work hard to improve their level up to a professional standard.

Two presentations were delivered: “Good Nutrition - A key to win the Game” by Asiyah Abdul Raheem and “What If?” by Ahmed Marzooq, Secretary General of the Maldives Olympic Committee.

Marzooq’s presentation was about a difficult 12-week journey he experienced undergoing training and dietary habits in the shoes of an athlete. Marzooq’s inspiring and motivational presentation gave seminar participants the perception to transform from a player to an athlete.

The interactive session was concluded with a closing remark by Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim, Managing Director of Sports Corporation. Razzaq enhanced the statement made by Marzooq and urged all athletes to move up to the next level and change from being a professional athlete to a champion.

The next phase of the Athletes Mentoring Programme will target specific sports and is scheduled to take place before the end of 2017.
