Maldives NOC signs MOU with Japanese city ahead of Tokyo 2020

Odawara, Japan, October 26, 2017: The Maldives Olympic Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Odawara City regards a training camp and other exchanges ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The MOU was signed by the Mayor of Odawara City, Kenichi Kato, and the Vice President of Maldives Olympic Committee, Ahmed Latheef, at a special function held in Odawara City.

The MOU is aimed at establishing a cooperative relationship between Maldives NOC and Odawara City prior to Tokyo 2020 and beyond. This will include the training of Maldivian athletes in Odawara and cultural and environmental exchanges between the city and the Maldives.

The initiative to establish this relationship was taken by Ambassador Khaleel and pursued by Ambassador Shareef during their term of office in Tokyo.An Action Plan will be worked out soon within the framework of the MOU, with training and exchanges expected to begin early next year.
