Phuket prepares for 200-day countdown ceremony to 4th Asian Beach Games

Phuket, Thailand: Organisers of the 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand, this November will reach another milestone on Monday when the 200-day countdown ceremony takes place. The celebration will be held at the Jungceylon Shopping Mall in Patong, where the Governor of Phuket, Mr Maitri Inthusut, will report on the preparations for the OCA’s 4th Asian Beach Games. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of Thailand, Mr Suwat Sidthilaw, will welcome the guests and visitors to the celebration and begin the countdown.

The OCA delegation will be led by the Director General and Technical Director, Mr Husain Al-Musallam, and will include the Chairman of the OCA Sports Committee, Mr Zhang Jilong.

The other VIP guests are Maj. Gen. Charouck Arirachakaran, OCA Vice President and Vice President-Secretary General of Thailand NOC, and Mr Kanokphand Chulakasem, Chairman and Secretary General of organising committee PABGOC and Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand.

The 4th Asian Beach Games will be held from November 14-23 and feature 147 events in 23 sports at six venue clusters. The sports include beach flag football, beach athletics and beach modern pentathlon, as well as jet ski, water ski and windsurfing.

The inaugural Asian Beach Games was held at Bali, Indonesia, in 2008, followed by Muscat, Oman in 2010 and Haiyang, China, in 2012.
