Sarah Paterson wins the VIP geust category.
Gold already for London 2012

29 Oct 2011
Kuwait: With six years’ triathlon experience behind her, it wasn’t difficult for Sarah Paterson to win the Incheon Asian Games fun run VIP guest category gold medal last week in Phuket. More important than the gold medal, however, was the joy and fun of participating. "I started triathlon about six years ago,” Sarah told ocasia.org after her Thai triumph. “I grew up being a swimmer so that part is easy, but I struggle with the bike.

“I have competed in all distances from sprint to Ironman, but, unfortunately, I have had a bad back injury for the last two years so haven’t been able to run as much as I would like.”

Sarah is working as Asia NOC Coordinator for the London Olympic Games Organising Committee and was among a five-strong delegation from London who attended the Olympic Solidarity/OCA Regional Forum 2011 in Dubai and Phuket regarding preparations for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

“It is fun to participate in the Incheon Asian Games fun run,” Sarah said. “I think the fun run is a great way to get local kids participating in some exercise and interested in the Asian Games.

"Being part of the LOCOG team visiting Asia, it’s really helpful for us to meet NOCs in person so we can answer their specific questions face to face. NOCs from Asia do not visit us much in London due to the distance, so it’s great to spend time with them at the forums," Sarah added.
