Opening Ceremony of The 15th Asian Games

The 15th Asian Games were opened with great fanfare and spectacular cultural programme on 1st of December at the Khalifa Stadium. The games were formally declared open by H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalid Al-thani, the amir of Qatar. H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, President OCA in his opening speech stated that the games in Doha are a dream come true and will be a bench mark for the future Asian Games. 

He thanked the Amir of Qatar, H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, DAGOC, the QNOC and the people of Qatar for their untiring efforts in making the Games a success. The Flame Cauldron was lit by Sheikh Mohammad Al-Thani, Captain of the Qatar Equestrian Team, in a breathtaking ride on horse back on steep climb which was the highlight of the opening ceremony.

The Opening Ceremony itself was quite extravagant with local and Asian Culture as well as some modern programmes.
