Oman wins team bowling gold at GCC Women’s Games

Doha, Qatar, March 15, 2017: Oman clinched the four-member team bowling event on the third day of the bowling competition at the 5th GCC Women’s Games in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, March 14. Oman topped the standings with 4,230 points to secure first place at Qatar Bowling Centre. They were followed by UAE with 3,810 points and Bahrain, led by singles gold medallist Noora Sultan, with 3,664 points for bronze.

Noora Sultan and Layla Janahi also managed high individual scores to qualify for the Masters event, scheduled for Wednesday, the concluding day of bowling. Elsewhere, Qatar won the table tennis team event gold as Aya Mahdi and Maha Framzi beat Bahrain’s Kaltham Elyasi and Maryam Al A’ali 3-1.

With three days remaining, Bahrain has 19 medals comprised of six gold, eight silver and five bronze.
