Stage set for Abu Dhabi world professional jiu-jitsu championship

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, March 31, 2017: Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the ninth successive Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship will be returning to the IPIC Arena, Zayed Sports City, from April 10-22, 2017.

More than 7,000 competitors from over 100 countries will descend on “the home of jiu-jitsu” to fight it out for world titles and a prize fund of up to AED 3 million. In addition to the competition, the IPIC Fan Zone will provide fun and activities for all the family.

Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival: The Festival returns bigger than ever with new extended dates from April 10-15. The festival is an opportunity for members of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and loyalty card-holders under the age of 18, plus white belts and members of the military, to compete in a world professional environment against their peers.

Abu Dhabi World Parajiu-Jitsu Festival: For the first time ever, the contest will hold a dedicated Para-Jiu-Jitsu division for players with disabilities and special needs - part of the UAEJJF’s ‘Year of Giving’ which also includes partnerships with ‘Jasadak Amana’ national health initiative and the UAE Food Bank.

Abu Dhabi World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship: See the next generation on April 16-17.

Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship: From April 18-22, the contest will see the UAE’s “national treasures” go head-to-head at this final stage of the 2016/2017 season. With a record number of participants from countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom and the USA, athletes at all levels will be earning points towards their professional rankings.

Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Legends Championship: On April 22, 10 world-renowned contenders, both current and retired, will fight it out for five gold medals.
