Asian NOCs attend summit for young sports professionals

Sochi, Russia, October 29, 2017: The Children of Asia Games International Committee, in close cooperation with the Russian Olympic Committee and WorldSkills Russia, organised the International Summit of Young Professionals in Sport within the programme of the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, Russia, from October 14-20.

The Summit hosted representatives from 16 countries: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Cambodia, France, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.Participants of the Summit, aged from 18 to 35, work for the development of sport within and outside their countries. Among them were employees of NOCs and sport ministries of the countries, members and heads of sports organisations.

The speakers included the Secretary General of the Turkmenistan Olympic Committee, Mr. Azat Muradov, Olympic champion and Vice Chair of the Tajik State Committee for Youth, Sport and Tourism, Mr. Dilshod Nazarov, Syrian Olympic Committee member and Ambassador of the Children of Asia Games, Mr. Ibrahim Abazid, the President of Philsilat Sports Association, Princess Jacel Kiram, the Commissioner of the Philippines Sports Commission, Ms. Celia Hikarte Kiram, and the Executive Director of Nepal NOC, Mr. Sujan Lal Shrestha.

Mr. Dmitry Glushko, President of CAGIC, noted: “During the Summit we discussed how sport is organised in various countries, how conditions for developing and promoting sports and physical culture are facilitated at the state level. The Summit has also shown its importance for those who are involved in developing children and youth sports”.

The second summit is set to be hosted in late 2018, ahead of the 1st Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games in February 2019 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
