Bahrain’s jiu jitsu players bag 10 medals at Abu Dhabi Grand Slam

Manama, Bahrain, January 17, 2017: Bahrain’s national jiu jitsu team won 10 medals - three gold, six silver and one bronze - at the recently-concluded Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. The gold medals were provided by Abdulla Sina (-67kg), Mohammed Abu Idris (69kg, purple belt) and Ali Monfaradi (77kg, brown belt).

The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Deputy General Secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) General Secretary, Abdulrahman Askar, welcomed the team on their return from the UAE. He was accompanied by the Bahrain Self-Defence Association General Secretary, Khalid Al Hasan, and BOC Sports Federations Director Hisham Al Baloshi.

More than 220 jiu-jitsu athletes competed at the IPIC Arena in what was the penultimate leg of a five-round Grand Slam World Tour Calendar organised by the UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation.
