IAGOC deepens partnership with WADA

Incheon, Korea:The 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 will take place over 16 days in Incheon, Korea from September 19 to October 4, 2014. In order to organize Anti-Doping Program in advance, members of Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have established a mutual cooperation to support and promote the Program to be conducted during the upcoming Asian Games.

IAGOC has been making every effort to prepare for the Program abided by WADA Code and International Standard, as well as Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Guideline. The Organizing Committee has also concluded a productive meeting which was held at the Headquarters, located in Montreal, Canada. In particular, IAGOC was given one-on-one training session by WADA about The Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS). Meanwhile, the two organizations agreed to put forward on the awareness of the Anti-Doping for the sake of sportsmanship, fair competition and the protection of athletes in the course of Outreach Program. The Program is “developed to inform and unite both athletes and entourage about anti-doping and the SAY NO! to Doping message”.

In addition, WADA decides to deploy Independent Observers (IOs) to examine whether the requirements are met. The final report of the Anti-Doping Program for the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 is expected to be released after the Games is finished. Doping Control Team in the forthcoming Asian Games anticipates setting up 49 Doping Control Stations in total, and expects to arrange doping tests both in urine and blood. “IAGOC is fully preparing Anti-Doping Program in order to demonstrate fair and clean competition at the forthcoming Games”, comments by Kwon Kyungsang, Secretary General of IAGOC. Meanwhile, IAGOC has signed MOU with Korea Anti Doping Agency (KADA)
to operation the Games with success.
