Taekwondo tournament attracts over 700 entries in DPRK

Pyongyang, DPR Korea, June 24, 2015: The 18th National Taekwondo Championships for the Jongilbong Cup brought together more than 700 players from provincial teams and other units, reports the Korean Central News Agency. Present at the opening ceremony were Ri Il Hwan, department director of the CC, the Workers' Party of Korea, officials, players and coaches and students of various ages.

Kim Kyong Ho, chairman of the Korean Taekwondo Committee, made an opening speech.

In other news from DPR Korea:

The Sports Contest for the Songun Torch Prize opened with due ceremony at Hamhung Stadium. The contest will take place in Phyongsong, Sariwon, Nampho and other areas and the participants will compete in more than 10 events such as football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and athletics.

Present at the ceremony were Thae Jong Su, chief secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials, athletes, workers and youth and students in Hamhung City.

Kim Jong Su, first vice-minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening speech. After the opening ceremony there took place a men's football match between North Hwanghae Province and Rason City.
