Palestine shares Incheon Asian Games joy

12 Jun 2011
Ramallah, Palestine: Palestine became the fifth Asian National Olympic Committee to witness 2014 Incheon Asian Games fever today. Some 500 enthusiastic boys and girls aged from 9 to 12 came to the Majid Assad Sports Field at Ramallah in the West Bank on Sunday to participate in the Incheon Asian Games Fun Run.

Palestine Olympic Committee member and Palestine Fencing Federation President Mr. Dauod Almitwally thanked everyone for their participation, and said that sport was very important for Palestine’s young generation.

“Although there are difficult circumstances in our homeland, today is the real day for all of you to celebrate freedom through sport,” Mr. Almitwally told the runners before the fun run.

“Thank you to all the boys and girls, as well as to our police force and the Olympic Council of Asia for bringing the Incheon Asian Games to Palestine.”

With close cooperation with the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee, Sunday’s fun run was co-organised by the Olympic Council of Asia and the Palestine Olympic Committee to share Incheon Asian Games joy among the Palestinian youth.

The Incheon Asian Games will be held in Incheon, Korea, from September 19 to October 4, 2014.
