Chinese media visit Incheon

25 Mar 2014
Incheon, Korea: A 20-strong delegation from major Chinese media organisations - including the People’s Daily, China Youth Daily, China Radio International, Xinhua News Agency and CCTV-5 - visited the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee (IAGOC) on Friday, March 21.

The delegation was visiting Incheon as a stop on a six-day tour of Korea organised by the Korea Tourism Organisation to promote Korean sports tourism among the Chinese public.  The visitors looked around the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium and attended a press conference and a presentation by IAGOC at its headquarters in Songdo, followed by a reception dinner.

Dr Kwon Kyung-sang, the Secretary General of IAGOC, said: “We at the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee are doing our utmost to make the 17th Asian Games the most efficient and cost-effective Asian Games in history, to make it a new model for future host countries.”

The visitors asked questions on issues such as the concept of the Asian Games Opening Ceremony on September 19, the goal of Incheon to make the Asian Games an environment-friendly Games and the “Vision 2014” programme which Incheon Metropolitan City has been operating since 2007 to help smaller sporting countries in Asia.

The visiting group showed increasing interest in the Asian countries in the Asian Games, and Dr Kwon requested the Chinese media to attract more public interest in China for the Incheon Asian Games, which will run from September 19 to October 4.
