DPR Korea to send 150 athletes to Incheon Asiad

18 Jun 2014
Incheon, Korea: The 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) confirmed on June 12 that the North Korean Olympic Committee submitted its Entry by Number last Tuesday through the Olympic Council of Asia. According to the Entry by Number submitted by the North Korean Olympic Committee, the number of athletes who are participating in the 17th Asian Games will be about 150 across 14 sports such as football (men and women), aquatics, archery, athletics, boxing and gymnastics.

Compared to the 184 athletes who participated in the 14th Asian Games held in Busan in 2002, the numbers have decreased. However, there is still a possibility of change after receiving Entry by Name this August.

IAGOC said that North Korea submitted its Entry by Number after Iraq had submitted theirs.
In the meantime, IAGOC will be finalizing its entry procedure after receiving Entry by Name forms from July 15 through August 15.

The 17th Asian Games will take place in Incheon from September 19 to October 4 and feature around 13,000 athletes and team officials from the OCA’s 45 member National Olympic Committees. They will compete in 36 sports and 439 events.
