Beijing to host OCA Fun Run

18 Sep 2012
Kuwait: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Fun Run activities to promote the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, in 2014 resume this weekend in China after a break for the London Olympic Games. The 14th Incheon Asian Games Fun Run will take place at the Beijing National Olympic Sports Centre on Saturday, September 22, starting at 9am. The stadium was the main venue for the 11th Asian Games in 1990.

Around 700 runners will take part in the 2.3-km run in three age groups, and a medal will be presented to the first 17 in each category – symbolic of the 17th Asian Games. The OCA delegation will be headed by Vahid Kardany of the Technical Department in Kuwait, and the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee team will be led by Park Byungjin, Director General, Cultural Events and Public Relations.

More Fun Runs are planned this year for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on October 14; Colombo, Sri Lanka, on November 4; and Macau, China, on November 7. The 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon from September 19 to October 4, 2014, with 36 sports and around 13,000 athletes and officials from the 45 National Olympic Committees.
