Olympic swimmer Yamaguchi joins Hoshino Resorts

01 Feb 2017
Tokyo, Japan, February 1, 2017: Looking after elite athletes once their competitive careers are over has become one of the main focuses of the Olympic Movement in recent years. The Japanese Olympic Committee is just one of several National Olympic Committees in Asia setting a fine example, offering retired athletes job placement in a programme called "Athnavi NEXT".

The Japan Olympic Team Facebook page reports that the first placement was made for Misaki Yamaguchi, a 27-year-old Olympic freestyle swimmer, at Hoshino Resorts, which has a history of over 100 years as a leading ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), onsen (hot springs) resort and hotel operator in Japan.

This shows how NOCs are putting athletes first both during and after their careers representing their country.
