Fun and laughter in Kish Island
04 May 2012
Kish Island, Iran: The second day of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Fun Run ended in a carnival-style celebration on Friday in Kish Island of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
More than 400 boys participated in the 2.5-km ‘fun journey’ and enjoyed an excellent comedy show arranged by Iran NOC and Kish Sports Authority in Kish Island City Hall.
The fun run event was attended by Iran NOC Secretary General Bahram Afsharzadeh, who travelled from Tehran on Thursday despite his poor health.
Other VIP guests included Haider Farman, Director of OCA Asian Games Department, Park Byung Jin, Director General of IAGOC Planning HQ, and local officials represented by Mr. Majid Bazmoon, the Director of Kish Sports Authority.
The top three in the fun run were Reza Hekmatneihad, Niknam Esmaili and Mozafar Chamali, who all received a bicycle as the top prize.
Mr Farman said the Kish fun run was the most successful event held so far to promote the Incheon Asian Games 2014.
“I have no doubt that the Kish fun run event is the best in all my past fun run experiences,” he said.
“This is because of the excellent preparation of Iran NOC and the Kish local government’s great support in hosting the event on two different days.
“Therefore, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Iran NOC and Kish organisers for making the event a great success. I would especially like to thank the Iran NOC Secretary General, Bahram Afsharzadeh, who made a great effort to attend today’s event despite his critical health condition.
“I wish him a speedy recovery, and wish Iran all the best in their preparations for the London Olympic Games and Incheon Asian Games.”
