27 Oct 2017

Singapore, October 27, 2017: The Queen’s Baton Relay for next year’s Commonwealth Games has arrived in Singapore from Brunei Darussalam – and there was plenty of excitement at the Botanical Gardens on Friday morning as guests caught the first glimpse of the Queen’s Baton.

Athletes from para athletics, gymnastics, swimming, shooting, rugby and table tennis joined Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, President of Commonwealth Games Singapore, at the Singapore leg of the Queen’s Baton Relay.

The guests also celebrated the birthdays of swimmer Roanne Ho, who will be making her Commonwealth Games debut in 2018, and shooter Martina Veloso, who participated in the Glasgow 2014 edition.

The CGS announced the appointment of Olympians Mark Chay and Lim Heem Wei as Chef de Mission and Assistant CdM to Team Singapore for the upcoming Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games from April 4-15.
