Ju-Jitsu Asian Union plans for Phuket Beach Games

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Ju-Jitsu Asian Union is calling on all member federations in Asia to send their applications for athletes to compete in the 4th Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand, this November to the JJAU by July 10. The final registration of competitors must be submitted by each Asian federation through the respective National Olympic Committee.

Ju-jitsu was a late addition to the sports programme of the 4th Asian Beach Games and will be contested over two days on November 12-13 at Patong Beach. The official opening ceremony of the Games is November 14 and they will run until November 23 with 26 sports and 168 events.

In a circular to Asian federations from the Abu Dhabi-based JJAU, the President, Abdulmunem Alsayad M. Al Hashmi, informs members that there will be two disciplines at the Phuket Beach Games  - Ne Waza Ju-Jitsu (BJJ) and Show System.

There will be 12 events in total: Ne Waza JJ men - -60kg, -70kg, -80kg, -90kg, +90kg and Open (6 categories); Ne Waza JJ women - -50kg, -60kg and -70kg (3 categories); Show Team – men/women/mixed (3 categories).

The JJAU is trying to accommodate at least one competitor from each member Asian federation in order to promote the sport throughout the region.
