Painting prize-winner announced in Iran

03 May 2012
Kish Island, Iran: Rihaneh Asghar Mohammadi, 12, from Farhang Girls School in Kish Island, won first prize in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Fun Learn Programme on Thursday. Her painting, "Olympic Rings and Torch", was chosen from more than 100 entries in a competition as part of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Fun Learn promotion programme organised by OCA, IAGOC, Iran NOC and Kish Sports Authority.

"I feel the Olympic rings and torch best represent sport. That is why I wanted to paint them," Asghar said. "I put five sports which are the most popular sports in my hometown Kish Island. They are swimming, basketball, tennis, canoe and volleyball.”

As the winner of the painting competition, Asghar has been awarded a bicycle from Kish Sports Authority. "I like the bicycle so much. This is exactly what I want and need,” Asghar said. "Thank you for organising the Asian Games Fun Learn Programme. It has really made me proud."
