Nha Trang, Vietnam: A Vietnam delegation totaling 128, including 91 athletes, will compete in the 3rd Asian Beach Games in Haiyang, China, from June 16-22. The athletes will participate in nine beach sports and 26 events, including sepaktakraw, woodball, volleyball, handball, basketball, football and sport climbing.

Before travelling to Haiyang, the delegation held a farewell ceremony in Nha Trang - host city of the 5th ABG in 2016 - on June 8. Mr. Vuong Bich Thang, Chairman of the Vietnam Sports Administration, handed the national flag to Mr. Lam Quang Thanh, Chef de Mission, and reminded all athletes to compete to their best level while showing fair play and sportsmanship.

On behalf of the Vietnam delegation, the CDM promised to complete the mission and try to achieve Vietnam’s best results. He hopes that Vietnam will rank in the top 10. According to Mr. Thanh, the most important mission for the delegation is to learn and exchange experience in organising the Beach Games.

He said: “By attending ABG3, the Vietnam sports delegation will have the chance to learn for hosting the 5th Asian Beach Games in 2016. The participation is also an opportunity for Vietnam to develop beach and sea sports.” Vietnam hopes to gain medals in sepaktakraw, handball, beach volleyball and sport climbing. The delegation will arrive in Haiyang on June 13.
