Mongolian heroes receive Olympic Star on Olympic Day

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, July 9, 2018: Mongolia NOC organised Olympic Day 2018 in the capital Ulaanbaatar. More than 200 schoolchildren took part in the Olympic Day Run in Terelj, and Olympians, athletes, para-athletes, government officials and media took part in the Olympic Day activities and ceremony in Ulaanbaatar.

This year Mongolia NOC is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Olympic medals - one silver and three bronze medals won by wrestling athletes at the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games - and the 10th anniversary of the first ever Olympic Gold medals from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in judo and boxing.

On the occasion of Olympic Day, Mr. N. Tuvshinbayar, gold medallist in judo, and Mr. E. Badar-Uugan, gold medallist in boxing, were awarded the highest distinction Olympic Star by Mongolia NOC President Dr. D. Zagdsuren in the presence of Olympic family members as well as media and sports journalists.

Athletes gave demonstration performance in fencing, gymnastics, badminton, kendo and bodybuilding.
