Manama, Bahrain, September 12, 2018: Bahrain Olympic Committee Executive Board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa welcomed members of the national athletics team on their return from the IAAF Continental Cup in the Czech Republic.
The Bahrainis followed up their Asian Games success in Jakarta last month by producing impressive results at the competition, the most significant of which was Salwa Eid winning the women’s 400m gold medal.
Other notable performances came from Winfred Yavi (3,000m steeplechase, bronze), Aminat Yousif (400m hurdles, fifth place), Edidiong Odiong (200m, fifth place) and Hajer Al Amiri (100m, seventh place).
Shaikha Hayat, who is a member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and Chair of the BOC Women’s Sport Committee, congratulated the Bahrain delegation, headed by Bahrain Athletics Association board member Bader Nasser.
Shaikha Hayat also conveyed the greetings of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and BOC President.
Shaikha Hayat added that the results were achieved due to the support of His Majesty the King, HRH the Prime Minister, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Supreme Council First Vice Chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
