Muscat, Oman, August 8, 2019: Oman will become a member of the International Fencing Federation at the annual general meeting of the world body in November.

This decision was conveyed to the Oman Fencing Committee at a meeting last week of top officials of the International Fencing Federation and the Oman Olympic Committee in Muscat.

Sheikh Saif bin Hilal Al Hosni, Vice Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee, received Anthony Donald and Yuki Ota, President and Vice President, respectively, of the International Fencing Federation, in the presence of Khalid bin Saeed Al Shuaibi, Chairman of the Oman Fencing Committee, and Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, Secretary General of the Oman Olympic Committee.

Several issues were discussed at the meeting including Oman’s membership in the world body. The visit by Donald and Ota was part of the membership procedure – ensuring the eligibility of the new applicant.

The delegates met some officials at the Ministry of Sports Affairs and also visited the training hall where they met athletes and coaches.
