Wujiang, China, October 22, 2018: Indonesia, who excelled at the 18th Asian Games sport climbing competition in Palembang, won two gold medals in the penultimate round of the International Federation of Sport Climbing 2018 World Cup in Wujiang, China.
Aries Susanti Rahayu won the Women’s Speed title, beating Anouck Jaubert of France in the final. The Indonesian climber recorded multiple times under 8 seconds, including the second fastest time of the day in the final against Jaubert for her second victory this year.
Second place for Jaubert, however, was good enough to clinch the overall Women’s Speed title for the second consecutive year.
Aspar Jaelolo was Indonesia’s other gold medal-winner, in the Men’s Speed event, and recorded the fastest time of the day in the quarterfinal (5.710 seconds).
Jaelolo duplicated the feat against Reza Alipourshenazandifar (IRI) in the semi-final and held on in the final against Ludovico Fossali (ITA) for Indonesia’s second gold medal in Wujiang.
In the race for third place against Aleksandr Shilov (RUS), Alipourshenazandifar stayed under 6 seconds for the fourth time in as many races to earn the bronze medal.
Heavy rain forced a cancellation of the Lead finals, and instead the results of the semi-finals decided the Lead winners in Wujiang and Lead season champions.
