Bahrain NOC moves forward on women’s sports development

Manama, Bahrain, January 10, 2019: Bahrain Olympic Committee board member and women’s sport pioneer Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa has declared herself satisfied with fruitful and productive talks held with a leading government official on the subject of women’s sport.

Shaikha Hayat, who is the Assistant Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, met with the Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Ayman Tawfiq Al Moayyed, in an attempt to boost women’s sport in Bahrain by activating her role within national sports clubs.

Shaikha Hayat thanked the minister for his support and keenness to take the bilateral cooperation between the ministry and the Bahrain Olympic Committee to higher levels in line with the directives of BOC President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, as per his initiative “Estijaba” aimed at developing the youth and sports movement.

She added that the minister stressed the importance of activating the partnership between the two parties in all directions in regards to boosting women’s sports and expanding its foundation within national clubs and sports federations.

Shaikha Hayat concluded her statement by extending her gratitude to the ministry for its positive influence and support to the Bahrain Olympic Committee in the progression of women’s sports sector in the Kingdom.
