Thun, Switzerland, March 19, 2019: Sapporo Asian Winter Games snowboard champion Liu Jiayu has been elected a member of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Athletes’ Commission.
The Chinese snowboarder, who won the ladies’ halfpipe at the 2017 AWG, followed up with a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea – her third appearance at the Winter Olympics.
Liu, 27, becomes a member of the FIS Athletes’ Commission for the first time and her term lasts from 2019 to 2021. She was world champion in 2009 at Gangwon, Korea.
Elections for the FIS Athletes’ Commission were held during each of the FIS World Championships 2019. The election results have to be confirmed by the FIS Council at its next meeting on June 2, 2019 in Catvat-Dubrovnik (CRO), and therefore the following athletes are provisionally elected as members of the FIS Athletes’ Commission for the term 2019-2021:
