29 Feb 2012
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Fun Run + Learn project in Mongolia ended with hundreds of smiling faces and bright winter sunshine in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday afternoon. The Fun Learn – testing students’ knowledge of the Asian Games in particular and of sport and the Olympic Movement in general – was held at the Mongolian NOC headquarters on Wednesday morning.

The format was multiple-choice questions with elimination rounds involving some 40 students at the start, and the last student standing was 14-year-old Anar Amarsaikhan of ASU (American School of Ulaanbaatar).

Following the quiz, the winner of the previous day’s Asian Games Youth Reporter Project was announced: Erdene Baigal, also 14, from Orchlon School. The action moved to the National Park on Olympic Street in the afternoon, when some 400 children joined in the Fun Run in four age groups. After the event, first, second and third places in the boys’ race and girls’ race of each age group received a medal and other souvenirs.

Kim Joong-jae, who led a delegation from the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee, said the three elements of the Fun Run + Learn - Youth Reporter Project, Fun Learn and Fun Run – had been well received by the Mongolian NOC and all the participants. “I have seen the future of young Mongolian students,” said Mr Kim, Deputy Secretary General for External Affairs. “They have really enjoyed the activities and this has led to the great result of this event.”
