OCA Fun Run + Learn prepares for next phase
10 Apr 2012
Kuwait: Plans are at an advanced stage for the next phase of the Olympic Council of Asia’s Fun Run + Learn series to promote the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, in 2014. After the National Olympic Committees of Mongolia and Chinese Taipei held the first two of 10 Fun Run + Learn events scheduled for 2012 on February 29 and March 4, respectively, Oman and Malaysia will be hosting the third and fourth legs later this month.
Both events will be held in conjunction with the Olympic Solidarity/OCA Regional Forums for London 2012, the first one taking place in Muscat on April 24 and the second in Kuala Lumpur on April 28. Muscat will host the NOCs from Central Asia and West Asia, while the Malaysian capital will host the NOCs from South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia.
The Fun Run + Learn concept has been expanded this year to include three elements: an Asian Games Youth Reporter Project, a Fun Learn quiz testing youngsters’ knowledge of the Asian Games and of the different sports, and the centerpiece of the event, the Fun Run.
The schedule for the Muscat-Kuala Lumpur legs are:
April 23: Youth Reporter Project
April 24: Fun Learn and Fun Run
April 24: OS/OCA Regional Forum for West Asia and Central Asia
April 25-26: Media Workshop for Women and Sport (IOC/OCA)
