Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Municipality Government will finish and hand over the new HQ of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee on July 27, 2012, according to a report on the official website of the UAE NOC. The project is estimated to cost Dh 16 million, whereas the total cost after completing the decoration and furnishing may reach Dh 45 million. The building will host, in addition to the UAE NOC, 21 sports federations.
The announcement was made during a meeting at the present location of the NOC, at the Clock Roundabout, chaired by H.E. Yousuf Al Serkal, NOC First Vice President, in the presence of Ibrahim Abdul Malik, Secretary General of the General Authority for Youth & Sports Welfare; Advisor Mohammed Al Kamali, the NOC Secretary General; Ahmed Al Kamali, Board Member of the International Athletic Federation and President of the UAE Athletics Federation; Nasser Abdul Razaq Razzuqi, Member of the Executive Office of the International Federation of Taekwondo and Karate, President of the UAE Federation, and Taleb Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Emirates Equestrian Federation; Director General of Dubai Municipality, Hussein Lootah, and Eng Mohammed Mushroom, General Manager of Public Projects of Dubai Municipality.
Ibrahim Abdul Malik said the building was made possible by the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, whose help had made this dream come true for UAE sport. The building spans 116,000 square feet and comprises a ground floor general reception area and four floors of offices to accommodate the 21 sports federations.
