Chinese Taipei otherwise known as Taiwan is located in Eastern Asia with islands bordering the East China Sea, Philippine Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait, north of the Philippines, off the southeastern coast of China.
It celebrates Republic Day which is the Anniversary of the Chinese Revolution in 1911 on the 10 October.
Its main exports are computer equipment, textiles, basic metals, equipment, plastic, rubber products and vehicles.
Taipei is part of a major industrial area. Most of Taiwan's textile factories are here, and other products include electronics, electrical machinery and appliances, wires and cables, and refrigeration equipment.
Shipbuilding, including yachts and other pleasure craft, is done in the port of Keelung east of the city. Railways and bus lines connect Taipei with all parts of the island.
The city is served by the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport west of the city in Taoyuan. Many yearly festivals are held in Taipei, including the Taipei Lantern Festival and Double Ten Day.
The National Palace Museum on the outskirts of the city houses one of the world's largest collections of ancient Chinese artifacts, calligraphy, paintings, and porcelain.
The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is an impressive monument built in classical Chinese style and The Longshan Temple, dedicated to Guan Yin, the Buddhist Bodhisattva of Mercy, is considered the best example of temple architecture in Taiwan.
Taiwan is situated between the world's largest continent (Asia) and largest ocean (Pacific).
The Tropic of Cancer running across its middle section divides the island into two climates, the tropical monsoon climate in the south and subtropical monsoon climate in the north.
High temperature and humidity, massive rainfall and tropical cyclones in summer characterize the climate of Taiwan.
According to Kippen's climate classification, the four climate types in Taiwan are a Monsoon and Trade-Wind Coastal Climate (Am) in the south, Mild, Humid Climate (Cfa) in the north, Wet-Dry Tropical Climate (Cwa) in the west, and Temperate Rainy Climate with Dry Winter (Cw) in mountain areas.

Sports are a somewhat popular activity in Taiwan. However, due to political reasons and pressure from the People's Republic of China, Taiwan has been competing as Chinese Taipei in international sporting events like the Olympic Games.
The most popular sport in Taiwan is baseball, it is also commonly considered as the national sport for the Republic of China, which governs Taiwan.
Other popular sports include basketball, football, volleyball, tennis and cycling.
